The Chlorophyll Series consists of drawings made with ruling pens, brushes, and airbrush using chlorophyll on Bristol paper. Some works incorporate hand-colored ferromagnetic particulate fixed to the surface. Magnetism plays a subtle role in photosynthesis, creating a conceptual relationship between the two primary materials. Chlorophyll embodies the capture and transformation of light, while ferromagnetic particles suggest invisible fields of attraction and organization.

The drawings investigate disciplined systems of mark-making. Each linear gesture is executed with a single breath before the brush is reloaded, establishing a rhythm that is both measured and bodily. Margins are determined by tool width and precise measurement, while compositions move between the square, rectangle, and circular forms. These geometric structures recall prehistoric ritual markings—cross-hatched lines, concentric circles, and other symbolic inscriptions that register the relationship between the body, material, and environment.

Drawing with chlorophyll feels like drawing with processed light. Because chlorophyll exists through the quantum processes of photosynthesis, the medium carries within it a history of transformed solar energy. The act of drawing becomes an attempt to respond to these invisible processes rather than merely represent them.
